Production factory
The challenge
Building a new factory
For Prangl Hungary, building a production factory to produce which battery separation films for electric cars was an interesting project. The tasks included installing the reinforced concrete structure and the façade panels. A 500 tonne large crane was also used, along with two brand new all-wheel telescopic boom lifts that were delivered to Prangl just in time for this project.
Our solution
A mega project
With a total investment of around EUR 728 million, the factory from the South Korean manufacturer of battery separation films for lithium-ion batteries is the first in Europe. This production factory caused quite a stir throughout Europe, but not just for that reason. Once it is complete, 1.2 billion square metres of battery separation film for electric vehicles will be produced every year. This will create 1,200 new jobs in Hungary. Prangl Hungary played an important part in this project, which is why particular attention was paid to the devices required in this case.
Special equipment
Erecting the columns for the production hall, which each weighed 56 tonnes, was first on the list. Only the largest mobile crane in the Hungarian fleet, which is also the strongest telescopic crane in the country, was considered for this: a 500 tonne telescopic crane with a 56 metre main boom and an overall system length of 145.8 metres. For the first task, the crane was equipped with a luff and a 180-tonne counterweight. In the second phase, a tilting auxiliary boom was added to the crane to install an additional level and grow the hall to a height of 42.0 metres.
New telescopic boom lifts
The next step was to install the entire reinforced concrete structure and installing the façade panels. As the customer did not want to set up any machines too close to the concrete foundation structure, we had to choose devices with a long reach and high mobility. Two all-wheel telescopic boom lifts that are unique on the Hungarian market with working heights of 48 metres and 57 metres met these requirements exactly. It was therefore possible to work on the structure without restrictions even from a great distance.
International teamwork
The Prangl team scored points on this project with all of its experience, dedication and reliability. The high safety standards on the building site were of course adhered to meticulously. Cooperation with all other international building companies worked perfectly, we all communicated in English. Therefore, all work was able to be completed on time and to the customer's utmost satisfaction. After the factory is completed, it will start operation in 2024.
